Sodexo is committed to improving the Quality of Life of its patients and residents

Dive into our recent immersion into the world of IDDSI (International Dysphagia Diet Standardization Initiative), an international initiative aimed at standardizing the terminology and practices related to swallowing.

The intensive training took place last week and marked a major turning point in our approach of healthcare.

The lack of common terminology to describe the various food textures offered in care facilities has long been a challenge. This has often led to heterogeneous management of swallowing disorders, putting in danger the safety and quality of life of residents and patients.

It is in this context that Sodexo organized this training, bringing together clients, partners and employees for a day rich in knowledge and culinary discoveries. Under the guidance of speech therapist and trainer Xavier Cormary, we learned a lot about the theory of swallowing disorders and the IDDSI approach.

This first day allowed all participants, whether they are care providers, chefs, dieticians, restaurant managers, or speech therapists, to acquire knowledge and become familiar with IDDSI practices. An opportunity to discover and taste innovative culinary solutions that can be implemented in healthcare facilities in Luxembourg.

Three more days followed, specially designed for healthcare sector chefs. With the expert guidance of Sodexo France's Health Advisory Chef, William Tynan, our chefs perfected their culinary skills to meet the requirements of IDDSI framework.

A week rich in experience and learning thanks to the knowledge sharing of these many experts.
